A post-sledding evening

On a cold winter afternoon, a young family returns home from a day of sledding in the fresh fallen snow. When they arrive home Mother prepares the children some cocoa, and the parents coffee, while Father and the two children put away the sleds and snow clothes. After passing out cocoa and starting the children’s favorite holiday movie, Mother returns to pour coffee for herself and Father.

Father, seeing his perfect children enjoying the film wrapped in their favorite blankets, can't help but smile. Then, his gaze turns to his beautiful wife - still pouring their coffees - and he can’t help but thank God for his amazing life. He then gently approaches Mother and wraps his arms around her waist in a warm embrace and softly kisses her neck and face and whispers he loves her. Mother twists in his arms to face him with her cup held in her hands wrapped around his neck; Mother tells him she loves him too.

As they turn to join the children on the couch they can't help but to pause. They watch their children together from the edge of the kitchen, with one arm around each other’s waist, and smile about their wonderful life. Mother and Father then make their way to the couch and sit, one on either side of their children, and watch the film till the end.

At the film’s conclusion the parents and children turn off the television and Father opens his Bible and continues on from the evening prior. Tonight's reading takes them on the long evening in the garden of Gethsemane. Father and Mother take turns talking with the children instructing them on the ways of the Lord and how to apply what they have read to their lives. The family ends their time of Bible study with a prayer. The parents then send the children to bed with a kiss on the head.

Following this the parents cleanup the dishes from their evening snack and fix the throw pillows and blankets scattered around the room. They then find themselves quietly cuddling on the couch watching their favorite evening show a docu-series. As their episode concludes, Mother and Father retreat to their room happily, but tiredly, after an amazing day. They settle into bed snuggling one another as they slip into a cozy winter slumber.
